Brinson Lanier - Chairman
Brinson Lanier is President and the major stockholder of Grower's Supply Company, Inc., Vice President of Growers Gin & Warehouse, Inc., and President of Growers Grain, Inc. all of Metter, Georgia. He is actively farming with emphasis on cotton and hay production. Mr. Lanier's previous associations have included being employed as a sales representative with Woolfolk Chemical Company, Thompson Hayward Chemical Company and American Limestone Company. Mr. Lanier attended Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College and the University of Georgia where he graduated with a B.S. degree in Agriculture. He has formerly served in the capacities of Chairman of the Board of the Hospital Authority of Candler County, Chairman of the Metter-Candler County Recreation Department, Chairman of the Metter-Candler Chamber of Commerce, Chairman of the Metter High School Booster Club, and Director of Metter Banking Company. He has served as President of the Agricultural Chemical Association of Georgia, President of Food Society Board. Currently, Mr. Lanier is serving as a director on the Pineland Telephone Coop Board and as Chairman of the Directors of the Pineland Cellular Corporation of Metter Georgia. He is a deacon and member of Metter Primitive Baptist Church.
Thomas H. Dollar, II Thomas Dollar is President and majority owner of Dollar Farm Products Company and Decatur Gin Company of Bainbridge, Georgia and has managed Dollar Farm Products since 1995. He has managed Decatur Gin Company since its inception in 1988. This firm deals in the sale of bulk and liquid fertilizer and precision farming equipment, and warehouses peanuts and grains. Mr. Dollar is also President of Miller County Gin Company in Colquitt, Georgia. From 1982-1988 he managed Riverside Grain in Bainbridge and from 1985-1988 Dollar Peanut in Newton. Mr. Dollar is also engaged in a farming operation under the name Silver Creek Farms. Mr. Dollar has served on the boards of the Georgia Soybean Association, Tri Rivers Waterway and Chickasha Oil Mills. He presently is on the board of directors at First Community Bank in Bainbridge and a member of the Cotton Board.
Ralph G. Evans Ralph Evans is President and owner of R.W. Griffin Feed, Seed & Fertilizer, Inc. of Douglas, Georgia. R.W. Griffin, established in 1920, is a third generation agribusiness company operating a number of enterprises in the South Georgia area including farm stores, cotton gins and peanut buying points. In addition, Mr. Evans served as a director of The Fertilizer Institute, Washington, D.C. and currently serves as an officer and director of The First National Bank of Coffee County, a bank he assisted in organizing.
James C. Liipfert, Jr. James Liipfert is a partner and serves as a manager of A.M. Bickley Chemicals, Inc. of Marshallville, Georgia. He has held this position since May, 1979. He serves as a Director of First South Bank of Fort Valley. Mr. Liipfert's experience includes service as an officer in the U.S. Navy from 1970-1972 and seven years with Woolfolk Chemical Works, Ltd. From 1972-1979. Mr. Liipfert's past affiliations include: President, Fort Valley Kiwanis Club, Board of Trustees of Westfield Schools, and the Marshallville City Council. He received a B.S. degree from Georgia Institute of Technology in 1970 and a M.S. degree from Georgia College in 1977.
Leo Phillips Leo Phillips is President and co-owner of Cochran Oil Mill & Ginnery, which was founded on July 1, 1904 and provides bulk fertilizers, seed, chemicals, gins, warehouses and buys cotton. Mr. Phillips is a director of the Central Georgia Banking Company and is a partner in the firm of Phillips and Phillips Attorneys At Law. He received a B.B.A., M.B.A. and J.D. degree from the University of Georgia.
Edd L. Powell Edd Powell is President and General Manager, as well as a major stockholder, in Omega Farm Supply & Cotton Gin, Inc. located in Omega, Georgia. The company deals in liquid and bulk fertilizers, seeds and chemicals, in addition to cotton ginning and warehousing. Mr. Powell is President and stockholder of The Cotton Gin, Inc. and South Georgia Recycling, both located in Lenox, Georgia. He has been involved in the agribusiness industry since 1975. Mr. Powell received a degree in Turf grass Management in 1974 from Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College, located in Tifton, Georgia.
Jack Powell Jack Powell is Vice President and 50% stockholder of Powell & Stokes, Inc., a family-owned business started in 1919. Powell & Stokes, based in Windsor, North Carolina, operates a peanut buying station and sells fertilizer, agricultural chemicals and seed to local farmers. They also have a mail order gourmet peanut business that operates under the name of Bertie County Peanuts. Mr. Powell is a past President of the Windsor Rotary Club and the Plant Food Association of North Carolina, and is Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Bertie Memorial Hospital. Mr. Powell graduated from North Carolina State University in 1964 with a degree in Agricultural Business.
Gordon Sumner Gordon Sumner is President of Sumner Rainbow Farm Service, Inc., having held that position since 1980. From 1973 until 1980, Mr. Sumner managed Singler Farm Service. He continues to farm row crops and raise beef cattle as he has done since prior to 1973. In addition, Mr. Sumner currently holds the following positions: President of Sumner Peanut Company, Inc.; Chairman of the Board of Directors, Mitchell Electric MC; Director of Doerun Gin Company; and Trustee of H.C.A. Palmyra Medical Center.
William Keith Davis Keith Davis is Vice President and stockholder of Florida Fertilizer Company, Inc., a family owned business established in 1959. He has held this position since 1979. He is also Vice President of Florida Transport Enterprises, Inc. Mr. Davis has served on the Board of Florida Fertilizer and Agrichemical Association since 1990, and has been a member of the Executive Committee since 1998 and Chairman of the Board from 2003-2004. In addition, from 1992-2000 Mr. Davis was a member of the Peace River Basin Board of the Southwest Florida Water Management District. He has been a director of Independent Ag, Inc. since 1992 and is the current President. He is a citrus grower and member of Florida Citrus Mutual. Mr. Davis graduated from the University of Florida in 1979 with a B.S. in Agricultural Economics. He and his wife, Candis, reside in Wauchula, FL
Brent Sutton General Manager of Growers Fertilizer Corporation in Lake Alfred, FL. Growers Fertilizer is a FL owned corporation serving the entire state with fertilizers and pesticides in the citrus, pasture, golf course and homeowner markets since 1934. In addition to the plant in Lake Alfred, Growers has a warehouse and retail store in Dade City, FL. Brent previously worked as sales manager for Lykes Agri Sales for almost 20 years and had the pleasure of serving on the board of Chem Nut during part of that time. Brent was also the FL sales manager for crop nutrients for Helena. Currently, Brent is chairman of the board of the Florida Fertilizer and Ag Chemical Association. Vice Chairman of the board of Pasco Medical Center in Dade City, past president of the Dade City Sunrise Rotary club, secretary/treasurer of the Florida Ag Council, chairman of the board of Independent Ag, Vice Chairman of the board of the University of Florida Citrus and Research center in Lake Alfred, Lay Leader of the First United Methodist church in Dade City and a certified crop advisor. Graduate of the University of Florida in December of 1982 with a BS in Agriculture, specializing in citrus.
Fred Heald Fred Heald is vice president and co-owner of Farmers Supply Inc., located in Immokalee, Florida. Farmers Supply was established in 1982 and is a second generation agricultural chemical company specializing in the southwest Florida winter vegetable and citrus markets. Mr. Heald is a Certified Crop Advisor and president of the Southwest Florida Vegetable Advisory Committee. He is a 1977 graduate of the University of Florida.
