January is a spectacular time of year. It's a time to enjoy hot sunny days with periods of warm tropical rain. The maximum temperatures are 89 F (32 C) and minimum at night 72F (22C). This is one of the best seasons to experience the Great Barrier Reef, as the seas can be calm, warm, deep blue and clear for days on end. The tropical rainforests are also at their very best and January is the month many colourful migratory birds visit the area.
