First Place goes to Charles Jones
This is just a very nice photograph that I think absolutely captures the fun of the adventure. The baby kangaroo (aren’t they called joeys?) represents Australia itself and I think the pure joy of the little girl at the sight of it captures the excitement that everyone felt, but the adults just don’t express the joy the way a child does. I think this shot is great.

Second Place goes to Dennis Pfeiffer
Even though there are no people in this, someone took the time to think of a nice way of tying ChemNut with this living symbol of Australia. The kangaroo itself would be just a photo, but putting the nametag on it adds what I call a “gotcha” to the whole thing. This photo makes you laugh and that always scores points with me.

Third Place goes to Jodi Arnold
This shot captures the city behind and tells me the pace was hectic, but fun. Bags tossed to the side, what I would suppose are father and son, (but it doesn’t really matter) just have to catch some Australian rays and strike an almost identical pose to do that. There is just a lot about the trip you can read into this shot.
